Gender really is something we should understand
The fact that women are affected by Ebola more than men – is that intuitive? A new initiative set up to address the problems caused by the aggressive outbreak of Ebola in West Africa recognise that gender awareness is vital in order to make sure the deaths and problems caused by this crisis do not mean a heavier burden on women and girls now and later.
UNFCCC Adaptation Committee Report on Institutional Arrangements for Adaptation
This new report looks very sleek, but I am trying to understand why Parties are asking the Adaptation Committee to author reports rather than just look at the existing literature – both by scientists and NGOs. It further underscores the disconnect between the policy and science worlds on adaptation.
Is adaptation still trendy?
Adaptation to climate change became a popular subject in the late 2000s and early 2010s. But suddenly new words are upon us, transformation and resilience being the two most prominent. How do they relate to adaptation? Do we still need to talk about adaptation? The purpose of this website is to provide access to resources on adaptation, and at the same time ask some critical questions about what it is, what it isn’t and what it should be.
